The Selkirk Summer: Celebrating Timber Heritage and Pristine Waterfronts

Deep in the shadow of the Selkirk Mountains, the Priest Lake wilderness preserves a timeless, generationally treasured way of life. The upcoming event calendar for Priest Lake, Coolin, Nordman, and Priest River highlights the deep connection between these communities, their logging heritage, and their pristine natural surroundings.

The seasonal kickoff begins on the eastern shore with the Priest Lake Spring Festival. This classic, family-friendly weekend features a community parade, an expansive craft fair, local food booths, and a fun run that draws residents out to celebrate the clearing of the mountain passes. Down the valley, Priest River embraces its deep historical roots with timber-centric summer celebrations and riverfront gatherings that emphasize the area's open spaces and slow-paced lifestyle.

As summer hits its peak, the sky over the water lights up with the annual 4th of July Fireworks Over the Lake, a spectacular display visible from the shores of Coolin up to the private cabins of Nordman. The summer season draws to a spectacular close with the iconic Priest Lake Dry Rot Wooden Boat Show & Parade, a full-day celebration where beautifully restored vintage timber boats cruise from a classic brunch at Elkins Resort across the glass-like water to Hill's Resort for an evening showcase.
